Archie
Guitarist
Archie started playing guitar at the age of 4 on the old acoustic guitar his dad still had in the shed from when he was a kid. Playing simple one string tunes over and over and over.
When it was obvious this wasn't a passing phase he progressed onto electric guitar and began down the pathway of learning his much loved style of music, Blues Rock.
Absorbing all he heard from a young age, Arch developed a broad knowledge of blues players both past and present, their style, tone and technique examined and imitated.
Arch has a great sense of rhythm and timing supported by years playing saxophone and drums in his school concert bands. "To be a good lead guitarist, you need to first be good at rhythm guitar "
Playing guitar at home with his brother and Dad for years, he came to a point where he needed to test himself live so his parents started taking him to local open mic nights that proved to be a perfect step up towards being in a band.
When he bumped into his old Kindergarten teacher, Paul Haste (Autumn Blue bassist), it was the beginning of his journey with Autumn Blue. They needed a guitarist, he needed a great bunch of people to play with.
Blending country, blues and rock with Autumn Blue has both pushed his learning and broadened his musical taste.
Music is a part of his everyday life, often setting an alarm for early morning to listen to a new album that's coming out and likes nothing more than discovering and sharing new artists with people.
If he's not playing or listening to music Arch loves camping with his family, tennis, surfing and knee boarding behind the boat. All this happens with songs in his head of course.
Arch knows he still has so much more to learn and discover about playing guitar and music and he wouldn't have it any other way. After all, that's what his guitar heros do.
Nige
Drummer
Laying down the beats for Autumn Blue with a well measured and professional execution is Nige Sonter. Nige loves exploring the musicality of his craft and enjoys delivering delicate feels while also being happy to drive home a solid foundation. David, sound engineer at TCMF 2023, had this to say, “A %#*^$ great drummer….finesse….power” and that pretty much says it all. Nige’s personal drive is to support his band members with a consistent and progressive contribution to every performance. This all started when Nige was about 13. He saw a drum kit in a shop window and thought “I want to play that”. And so his Dad bought a barely usable 40 yo kit and put it in the garden shed at Tele Point. Drumming formed a major part of Nige's teens.
After a motor bike accident at 18 Nige was both physically limited and certainly had no confidence to put himself in any kind of spot light.
For the next 32 years he never stopped playing in his head and feeling songs. Nige dabbled occasionally with a kit in this time but it was never enough.
In his 50th year on this planet a friend Brooke who he met when coaching soccer said she was getting back into music (I didn’t even know she played) and she needed a drummer. To Nige that was a crack in a door he was not going to let close.

Paul
Bass
Paul's musical narrative begun in 1994 when he was fifteen years old and in Year 9 when he decided and asked his mum if he could take guitar lessons. From there his parents purchased his very first nylon acoustic guitar and he commenced lessons at Rok Music centre in Newport on the Northern Beaches. Paul's first few lessons involved learning the first three basic chords of E, A and D. He remembers quite well the first song he learnt to play was ‘With or Without You’ by U2, however, when he tried to play along with the song he remembers thinking the chords sound nothing like from the song and his guitar teacher must have given him the incorrect chords! This certainly wasn’t the case at all though. Soon after, Paul purchased Eric Clapton’s Unplugged tablature and learnt Signe which he was extremely proud to be able to play. In 1995 Paul was fortunate to receive a Strat style guitar and little 30 watt Roland amp which he thoroughly enjoyed playing especially ‘Patience’ by Guns N Roses. Over the coming years Paul would continue to receive guitar lessons and would often retreat to his room to play guitar. In 1996 Paul started to receive lessons from a guitar teacher, Troy, at his house in Collaroy. Paul saved up money to purchase an Ibanez 540 S-Series which at the time cost $2000 and was a lot of money.
In 1998 he moved to Armidale for university where he auditioned for a band, Breaking Jade who were entering a band competition. Although they didn’t win the competition, it was a great experience. However, soon after the band members went their separate ways. During his years at university he would play casually at various college functions but never too seriously.
After Paul finished university he moved to Dubbo in 2002 where he tried to start a band but ultimately this didn’t eventuate. Over the next few years he would pursue other interests and it wouldn’t be until 2010 in Silverdale (Western Sydney) when he would next pick up the guitar. Wanting to expand his knowledge of music theory he once again took up guitar lessons with a tutor in Mulgoa. Paul also took the initiative to put a band together but this proved extremely challenging living quite far from other musicians and again was placed on hold.
It was 2015 when the family relocated to the mid north coast, he began work at North Haven Public School. There was an extremely comprehensive concert band program at school so he decided to purchase a bass guitar so he could tutor some of the students. Paul also ran a guitar group during lunchtimes. One day in 2016 when at a music store in Port Macquarie he answered an advertisement asking for a bass player for a contemporary rock covers band. For the next two years he would be part of this cover band playing a number of backyard gigs. During mid 2018 the band disbanded, however, another friend approached him asking if he would be interested in playing in his band which Paul agreed to. At the end of 2021 another mutual friend rang saying that he and a friend were thinking a starting a country tribute band. At the time Paul wasn’t quite sure as he was already committed to another, but agreed to go out and have a jam. After playing just one song and hearing Brooke’s vocals Paul decided that both Nige and Brooke had something special and that this would be an amazing opportunity. It was from here that they became a trio and started their musical journey which continues to this day.
Brooke
Singer and Acoustic Guitarist
At centre stage and the very heart of Autumn Blue is founder and lead singer, Brooke Cook. With a commanding stage presence backed by warm, smooth tones that effortlessly transition to a gritty and raw powerhouse Brooke captivates audiences and leaves them wanting more.
Returning to the stage after a break of more than 10 years in which time she was busy doing life things like; getting married and having 3 children, Brooke has reignited a passion she once thought was lost and is more energetic than ever to be performing, "This band has been truly inspiring. Having always been a country music fan, I now have a new-found love of blues rock, with this genre sitting in the pocket of my vocal ability."
A natural performer Brooke’s singing career started with competitions and gained momentum through her late teen years where she continued competing and also toured with her own band as Brooke Lamb. Taking home multiple awards during this period it’s a brush with fame that Brooke sights as a highlight, “Stepping on stage as the support act to the Mick Fleetwood Blues Band during their Australian Tour in 2010 was so amazing and something I will forever remember.”
Now, together with her AB family, the focus is on exploring and growing as a performer and as a band. There is a hunger to produce originals, stand on bigger stages and to take opportunities like the Tamworth Country Music Festival to learn and reach new audiences.
“The TCMF was one of the most amazing experiences. I'm so happy to have been able to share this experience with my children, who have come away very inspired to explore their musical talents….and I can’t wait for them to see me on the main stage sometime soon."
